Hazardous Waste Profile Helper

Build a TSDF-ready hazardous waste profile. Every field a disposal facility needs for approval, organized and printable. No legal document; a working draft you can submit or use as a template.

Waste Stream Information

Fill in as much as you can. Blank fields will show as "not provided" in the output. Your data stays in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

1. Generator Information
Required for SQG/LQG. Format: OH12345678901
Your primary business classification
2. Waste Stream Description
Short, descriptive. "Spent MEK from parts washer", "Contaminated absorbent from spill cleanup"
How the waste is generated. Enough detail that a stranger could understand. Be specific about the process, not just "industrial cleaning".
3. Physical Characteristics
4. Composition (approximate %)

Include all constituents at 1% or greater. Use SDS, process knowledge, or analytical data. Should total close to 100%.

5. RCRA Waste Codes

Enter all applicable codes separated by commas. Use our waste code lookup if you need help identifying codes.

California 791/221, Washington WT01/WP01, etc.
6. Hazardous Characteristics (per 40 CFR 261)
7. Regulatory Status
Triggers BWON and NESHAP Subpart DD/BB reporting
8. DOT Shipping Information
9. LDR (Land Disposal Restrictions)
10. Special Handling Requirements
Shock-sensitive, temperature-sensitive, polymerizes, reacts with water, air-sensitive, pressure build-up, etc.
11. Container & Quantity

Your Waste Profile Draft

This is a working document, not a legal TSDF profile. Submit this draft or transcribe its contents into the specific TSDF's profile form. The generator signature and certification language on the TSDF form must be filled in by an authorized representative.

How to Use This Profile

Purpose of a waste profile

The TSDF uses your profile to determine if they can accept your waste, how to price it, what paperwork is required, and how it will be managed. A complete, accurate profile gets you faster approval and avoids the expensive "waste rejection at the gate" scenario where your shipment is refused and returned.

What every TSDF asks for

Different TSDFs have their own profile forms, but they all ask for the same core information. Clean Harbors, Veolia, Stericycle, US Ecology, and every smaller regional disposal facility wants to know: who you are, what the waste is, where it came from, what's in it, what regulations apply to it, how to ship it, and how to dispose of it. This tool covers all of that.

The certification on the final form

Every TSDF profile ends with a generator certification statement, usually invoking 18 USC 1001 (false statements to federal authorities). Only a person authorized to sign on behalf of the generator should certify the profile. This is usually an environmental manager, facility manager, or designated responsible party. Do not have a sales rep or clerk sign it.

Common profile rejection reasons

TSDFs reject or flag profiles for: missing RCRA codes, composition not adding up to 100%, missing LDR information, missing DOT shipping name, inconsistent physical state and flash point combinations (for example, a solid with a listed flash point), benzene content not addressed, PCB status not addressed, and generator EPA ID missing for SQG or LQG shipments.
